Here are my thoughts on teaching music composition:
- Music composition is the art of discovering sounds, manipulating them into coherent ideas, and notating those ideas so that others can replicate the discovered sound.
- Theoretical understanding is essential for one to draw upon the foundations in order to create new material.
- For every 50 things you write, hopefully one of them will be okay.
